The story of two days of intimate and heartfelt multicultural celebration. Broken plates, Brazilian food, electric shortage and loads of pretzels.
VERA & JONNY

COUNTRY:PORTUGAL
-
CITY:AZEITÃO
Vera and Jonny from Germany gathered their friends and family from all over the globe and decided to organize a private villa wedding Portugal, in one of my favorite parts of the country, Azeitão.
They rented a huge property with two big houses, a pool, several lounge areas and a breathtaking view over the hills. We often have weddings in palaces, monumental hotels or castles (which is awesome), but we have to admit that there’s nothing that fulfills our hearts more than a small, intimate and heartfelt, totally DIY gathering, like this private villa wedding Portugal.
On the day before, to follow the German traditions, several ceramic plates were sacrificed for the luck and happiness of the couple (this is called Polterabend and it’s a great excercise for a fellow photographer who needs to jump around and run away from the flying pieces – look for their short highlights film in our Wedding Films menu to have a glimpse of the danger itself or check it out on Vimeo).
On the wedding day we already felt like we’re part of the family… Seeing the union of the 4 sisters during the preparations, the availability of friends helping with cooking, problem-solving or even translating, the support of the family members from both parties, was something that warmed our hearts and made us feel genuinely happy. For them, and for ourself, by having such amazing clients like Vera and Jonny.
Many times on weddings we got asked by guests if we’re friends with the couple – which is the greatest thing, considering that we often only got to meet through a quick Skype call. But it’s always enough to feel the “chemistry” between us, to feel that we’re on the same page when it comes to our approach to wedding photography (and to life itself, normally). And that connection is the key to honest and authentic photography we love so much.
THE POLTERABEND
THE WEDDING DAY
One of the most lovely wedding pieces of content i’ve seen. Truly genuine. Cheers
thank you so much!
Hi,
BEAUTIFUL pictures! I just wanted to reach out and see if you remember the name of this venue? If so, would you be able to share? We are just starting to look for venues like this one for our wedding. Thanks!
Nicole
Hi Nicole, thanks! This is a private villa the couple rented for a few days so it’s not your usual wedding venue, but if you shoot us an e-mail to info@lookimaginary.com, we’ll contact Vera and Jonny and ask for a contact to help you out! :)
